I'm having some difficulty with using the blogger reading list rss feature.

I want a customizable RSS where you can customize feed categories.

You can filter the megafeed and create new feeds. Snoozing links would be more helpful.

Going off facebook has helped me look at my life and priorities/getting banned

more anonymous junk

The most important things to do are to 1) support oneself/make money/have a job, etc
2) have friends or family

If you're not doing that or training for work through school etc you're not doing life. And by you I mean me.
It's sad that I don't have real friends to share media with like you would in real life
https://windowsreport.com/windows-8-rss-reader/

Rss feed homepage or just a website like flipboard

I just need to be smarter about how I spend my time online
I kinda worry about not being sufficiently teachable or focused.

I think the social component to motivation an learning is very important.

Search everything

Search everything for cool things, for interests. And find some coherant way to save and keep track of stuff

blog forums

Wow https://mashable.com/2007/09/27/online-communities/
patreon and medium cost money so the pressure would be on to produce high quality "content"

Need to check out other blogging platforms

I'm thinking just Wordpress. I've tried Tumblr and didn't like it
Could try to limit social media activity to meetup and fb events

And I guess trying to get into reading blogs and independent content creators

My interests

I would LIKE to use the internet to puruse my specific interests instead of being forcefed garbage from a facebook newsfeed. Facebook has political motivations and is censorious and duplicituous. I am also gettig banned and if I want to remain engaged and entertained online I am forced to enter the larger internet "world."

Of course it would be best if I actually entered the real, physical world.

I think dashboards and control pannels and just centralizing organization is important. Organization helps immensely with time management and spending time in a rewarding way. For me, I feel a compulsive need to document and showcase everything like a narcissist, focusing on the way things appear and the type of person I appear to be to boost my self esteem and deprived ego. My ego seems to be deprived of anything real, real human connections, real rapport, real social reward and connection in the real world. This goes back to a young age and being isolated and overly controled with the internet as one of the few things I was allowed to do.

Here are interests I would like to focus on, any interests, I'm putting down general interests and will hopefully be able to name more specific ones:

Somehow become a news reader? Flipboard might be good for that
Blog discovery?
Put specific amounts of time into your interests like film and tv or video media research every day so you have new stuff to watch
Music-how to organize music? Practice searches on youtube. Find a good way to organize your music interests
Good films or movies
History of dance?

I am not good at figuring this out. I would like to start a youtube channel and start practicing photography and I'm interested in film criticism and production.

Didn't include cohousing links. PDC cert has intentional community around it sometimes and so do ecosystem restoration camps. There's also the rainbow family slab city and similar types of lands to the slabs

Groups for blogging maybe on fb, and possibly forums

https://www.quora.com/Is-there-a-social-network-for-bloggers

Originally Answered: is there a social network for bloggers?
1. There are many facebook groups for bloggers. Go to FB search bar and type blogging in and see the groups that come up. Many!
2. There are forums all over. I have used the Blog Zone. I wanted to try the Warrior Forum.
3. Reddit has a Bloggers subreddit where you can discuss and promote your links.
Hope that was helpful!

Had to look up how to add a follow button

https://www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-make-a-follow-button-on-blogger

I figured out how to follow blogs and look blogs up.

I found the profile option for networking because profiles came up when I searched the blogger website on google. And now I guess I at least know how to use this site for social networking. I'm also a fan of the reading list on blogger as I mentioned, adding websites there instead of google bookmarks. When you create a profile you can use the links to find users with similar interests.

Too much effort

Social media without a clear purpose: A waste of time

I would like to better manage my time around social media.

If you are not documenting a cause or creative project, involved in real life activism or gonzo journalism, diy journalism on the ground, there is no purpose to social media. I guess you can share original content that other people have produced but people truly interested will go straight to the source to get their information.

You should share with your friends stuff that would be interesting to your friends, events and pictures and stuff, stuff about what you're doing, how you're doing it, humor, etc. Journaling is best done off fb I think because it can provoke or trigger people (just like pictures I guess)

Social life the only route to making social identity stable

I posted something about this on facebook where I write better. Something about people not have a stable identity without a social life as identity is interpersonal in its structure; its interpersonally based or based on social interactions with other people. Without this social element to identity none of us can know ourselves.

Looking at volunteer opportunities for farming and this is one of the opportunities

Found on Stumbleupon, Neil Postman

If I could afford books I would buy a lot of them https://austinkleon.com/2020/03/02/neil-postmans-advice-on-how-to-live-the-rest-of-your-life/

Just joined Flipboard

Stumbleupon may be next but I'm going to explore Flipboard for a little while. I will post related sites here. This is on the subject of blog discovery and a way to aggregate information on my interests so that I can have somewhere to start, delve in and share my interests with others.

EDIT

Flipboard appears to be strongly a marketing site. It doesn't have the ability to create niche interests on the site built in or the inborn ability to build keyword searches into the feed.

Stumbleupon is now mix.com

Mix.com allows users to build collections like pinterest

Organize Workflow & Manage Time & Money

Eventually I am going to organize my workflow with Linux and I will have bought the storage space I need and cameras I need to literally put myself out there.

I understand the narcissism that goes along with focusing on "me" and self-promotion. But I feel like I have to accept it because socializing in the real world is enormously hard for me and I feel like I need something to "fall back on" because of my fears of and essentially being a social failure in the real world.

Facebook ban decreased reliance on facebook for social media entertainment

Now I'm getting dates on Reddit and figuring out (finally) how to use blogger socially and how to actually organize and follow sites to read.

Organizing content, organizing interests, organizing learning and input

These are all important skills to have to participate socially online

SEO

I understand the concept of using social media to promote blogs or network the friends you already have into your blog. I don't quite understand search engine optimization. All these things or understandings aren't super relevant when they come prior to developing worthwhile or valuable content to share. And the sad thing is, if you don't have a genuine social network and people do not know who you are, people will steal your writings and ideas if you produce high quality content.

This format really works, but I'm still looking for ways to stumble across blogs that are community oriented enough so that I can make friends

enter into google search bar: site:blogger.com

can put a key word in front of it like "lesbian"

What's really awesome is the reading list feature on blogger. You can post any url in there I think and organize who you read online from that dashboard or control pannel. I hate having to rely on google bookmarks and hopefully I won't turn my reading list into google bookmarks by having too many to surf between

The need to find interests to make friends

I feel like I'm stuck in a black hole entertainment wise because I do not have a list if curated interests or hobbies. I can't wait to go back to school!

This works to search blogger sites

My post on reddit did really well. I do fit in somewhere.

Posted on Reddit

I think what is going to be key for me is to have a blog that can evolve in it's purpose and message. So it would be helpful to be able to have tiered privacy settings, public and personal. I would like to go to a website that allows these tiered privacy settings to blog. I know for blogger you can simply unpublish posts or save them as drafts. That might be good enough for me. I think it's hard to take the blogging thing seriously. I just want to use it as a way to make friends but I am uncomfortable with the practice of data harvesting.

I think I'm strongest writing about feminism but I'm not writing at a professional level. I only have about 2 years of college. I do feel like it's hard to truly be creative or tap into something real in this climate of survielance culture online. So whatever I write online, I like it to feel public and not personal. If I feel like I am revealing my truest or best vulnerable self I tend to just stay away from the platforms.

I think what would be easiest would be to start the creation of content offline for privacy reasons. It is extremely hard to be to be focused without knowing I am speaking to a specific audience, or without having an audience in mind. I'm having some racing thoughts as well.

Does anyone here have multiple blogs of a personal and private nature? Has anyone experienced personal fulfillment and making true or deep friendships on blogs? What are your topics for blogs?

Anything but facebook. Putting a lot of energy into facebook is toxic. I repeatedly keep getting banned for things that are not really appropriate to be banning for. I find it difficult sometimes on facebook to connect deeply or meaningfully. I think with blogs if you can find someone who is interested in what you write you can really connect deeply with them and share that connection back and forth of interest in another's writing.

Anyone want to be friends online? What type of stuff do you like to see on blogs and social media? How do you make friends and spark people's interest? Time management and meeting my own basic needs is hard. I can't really afford hobbies, a camera, etc. I don't have any savings. My funds are so limited I struggle to find anything to do in my recreation time.

Medium

I'll also be setting up on Medium or just Wordpress or something

I'll be using Reddit

I'll be using Reddit to try and make connections and "promote my blog" to whoever is looking for friends like me who post similar things to them and will interact with them.

Replacing facebook?

I hope this blog can be used as a replacement for facebook.

Forgetting

This evening I forgot something I was going to share with my friends on facebook. I decided I was going to post it here but forgot it by the time I had created the blog. This has probably happened because I was disturbed and feeling bad about myself because my roommate shat on me.

Watching Breaking Bad

I like listening to Breaking Bad and other people's voices through my headphones while I'm doing other things. It's comforting.

Boundaries today

It's hard for me to set boundaries when my boundaries are already being overstepped. A roommate came to my door and accused me of stealing his two dollar soda. He was really unpleasant and looked down on me in a really condescending and degrading way. This is after I tried to help him with his technical problems with his computer. I think next time he knocks I'm not going to answer or I'll close the door in his face. I'm trying to enjoy my evening and to be nice on top of it when I'm interrupted by this new person who isn't even nice about crossing my personal space boundaries by insisting I interact with him when my door is closed for privacy, and interrupting my evening with something that does not have anything to do with a time pressured issue around comanaging the space or anything cooperative, just an accusation of theft. I am in the house around meal times every day, and he could easily ask me when I'm actually outside of my room if I stole his drink. Instead he seems to feel that he can just ask me for computer and technical advice and for the internet password and treat me as if I am the house manager and his personal IT assistant not even give basic niceties back in the form of courteous body language or a smile when asking me about his missing stolen shit.

The purpose of this blog

This is a place for me to share my thoughts off facebook because I am getting banned. I hope I will make relateable posts and make friends here. This is basically going to be a journal with short posts, or that is the intention.
